The Mortality IQI rates are the number of deaths that have occurred within the hospital per 100 patients admitted for that particular condition. Example: On average, 6.1 out of 100 patients in NJ died from a heart attack while in the hospital. Lower mortality rate is better and means fewer deaths. Data is from 2010.
