Under the Worker and Community RTK Act, the RTK Program is required to develop
the Right to Know Hazardous Substance List (RTKHSL). The RTKHSL contains over
3,000 hazardous substances, including those which are on the Special Health
Hazard Substance List (SHHSL). The SHHSL consists of over 1,300 substances
which are considered to be special health hazards and are defined as
carcinogenic, mutagenic, teratogenic, corrosive, flammable, and reactive
substances.
The RTKHSL identifies the following for each chemical: the Chemical Abstracts
Service (CAS) number, common name, chemical name including synonym(s), RTK
substance number, the US Department of Transportation number, and the source(s)
from which the hazardous substance was obtained.
Note: 1-BROMOPROPANE (RTK
Substance No.4198) will be added to the RTK Hazardous Substance List
with the next revision of the list.
