abstract: This data set contains information on Environmental Public Health Tracking (EPHT) yearly and quarterly measures of select contaminants in public water supplies for disinfection byproducts (Total trihalomethanes (TTHM) and haloacetic acid (HAA5), arsenic, nitrate, perchloroethylene, trichloroethylene, radium, and uranium). Data are derived from state Safe Drinking Water Act databases. Haloacetic Acids (HAA5) = Sum of Monochloroacetic Acid (MCAA), Dichloroacetic Acid (DCAA), Trichloroacetic Acid (TCAA), Monobromoacetic Acid (MBAA) and Dibromoacetic Acid (DBAA). The data set contains aggregated data for community public water system (PWS) per year or quarter with average and maximum concentrations of each analyte. Population served data are also available.
purpose: This data set contributes to the Environmental Public Health Tracking Network. The EPHT cooperative agreement states that "by September 30, 2008 [all grantees must] track and make available core environmental health tracking measures on the State and National EPHT Network [including] data/information on key water contaminants, as defined through the Content workgroup process." The Content Workgroup Water Team identified initial contaminants of concern for the national EPHT program, identified nationally consistent data sources, and developed nationally consistent indicators and measures.

native_dataset_environment: The dataset consists of data and measures related to annual and quarterly drinking water quality measures for disinfection by products and select contaminants in community drinking water systems throughout New Jersey. The dataset contains information on quarterly mean concentrations, and annual means and maxima by number of community water systems and by number of people served by community water systems. Data have been extracted from the SDWIS database into SAS format running under Windows 7 Pro.
GIS_notes: None
data_completeness: Data for all New Jersey Public Water Systems are complete and verified between January 1, 2000 and the most recent year of publicly-available data.
